New Books Published by Cambridge University Press

Dr. Teece has authored two new books on dynamic capabilities, both published by Cambridge University Press and available online through open access. The dynamic capabilities framework is a powerful lens for understanding how managers can build, adapt, and renew organizational strengths to shape and respond to evolving market and geopolitical conditions.

The first book, Dynamic Capabilities: Foundational Concepts, bridges business strategy with economic theory. Dr. Teece presents a deep understanding of firm behavior (including a capabilities perspective on the theory of the firm) and provides analytical tools for today's business challenges, relevant to diverse audiences including scholars, managers, and boards.

In the second book, Dynamic Capabilities and Related Paradigms, Dr. Teece argues that firms with strong dynamic capabilities can not only adapt to change but actively shape their environments to create lasting value, outperform competitors, and sustain long-term success. It offers a system-level view of how resources and capabilities are orchestrated across competitive cycles and compares the framework to other leading approaches in strategy and innovation—revealing how they fit within a broader, unified perspective.
