GCLC Evening Policy Talk: Antitrust and Regulatory Policy in Digital Industries

David Teece took part in a roundtable on "Big Tech and the Digital Economy." He discussed the economic imperatives of making innovation central to competition policy and regulation directed at tech companies and digital platforms. He also addressed how innovation drives competition as much as competition drives innovation; and how advancing dynamic (nonstatic) competition and supporting innovation can help benefit consumers. This will require operationalizing competition policy enforcement in a somewhat different manner, but is necessary to deal with Big Tech and big data issues.
